The 30 Hard Challenge: A Journey of self-discovery

For a while, I had been living a comfortable life, never really challenging myself to the best of my abilities. I was content with my routine, but deep down, I knew I needed a change. My friend was doing the 75 hard challenge and I was a bit intrigued. I created my own version of the 75 Hard Challenge, which is a grueling test of physical and mental endurance that promises to transform you into a better version of yourself. I was hesitant at first, but I decided to give it a try.

The 75 Hard Challenge “Remixed”

Instead of doing the 75 hard challenge, I decided to cut it down to 30 days. My version of the challenge consisted of the following: exercise 5x a week, walk 20 minutes per day, follow a diet of choice, drink at least half a gallon of water and perform one form of self care daily (reading 10 pages of a book, listening to a podcast, performing a skin care routine or meditation).

During the Challenge

The first few days were smooth but as time progressed, I struggled to keep up with the daily tasks. However, I refused to give up. Even though I didn’t stick to the challenge completely, I made small wins every day. I did exercise 5x a week as directed, however, I didn’t always get in my 20 minutes of walking. I also stuck to my diet of choice which was staying within my Macro Nutrient number. I did not read at all but I did listen to multiple podcasts which I will share in a later blog posts..my faves. As far as the water intake, let’s just say I drank more water than I usually do and we’re going to leave it at that.

As the days went by, I started to notice changes in myself. I felt more energized and focused, and I was able to push myself harder during my workouts. My clothes fit better, and my skin looked clearer. Even though I wasn’t perfect, I knew that I was making progress. Additionally, I decided to challenge myself to cut back on my caffeine intake. I went from drinking coffee daily to 3 times a week.

After the Challenge

When the 30 days were over, I felt proud of myself. Though, I didn’t see a major difference in the number on the scale, I did lose inches. I had tried something new, and even though I didn’t complete it perfectly, I had made small wins every day. I knew that I had developed a sense of discipline and determination that would help me in other areas of my life.

I do know that I want to try it again. Next time, I will be more prepared, and I would push myself harder, aiming for a mall wins every day and celebrating my progress along the way.

The 30 Hard Challenge was a reminder that even if we don’t achieve our goals perfectly, every small win counts. It’s about pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones and trying something new. I may not have completed the challenge perfectly, but I made progress, and that’s all that matters.
