My Top Christmas Holiday Movies to Watch

Tis the Season! Hey, ya’ll! I’m back with yet another post. We are in the last chapter of the year and I couldn’t be happier. December is one of my favorite months for many reasons. For starters, it’s my birth month and I will be turning 30 this year. Aside from my birthday, during this time, i look forward to decorating, gift wrapping, and quality time at home.

One thing about me, I will enjoy my time alone. If you are a homebody like me, you know exactly where I’m coming from. If I could describe my perfect day, it would consist of me in front of the fireplace with my feet up watching TV.

This holiday season, that’s exactly where you will find me. While there are a ton of movies to watch, today I’m sharing with you my list of go-to holiday movies. Whether you are into romance, comedy, horror, etc., there is something on the list for everyone.

Throw up your decorations if you haven’t done so already, grab your loved ones, make a snack, and enjoy.

Christmas Chronicles 1 & 2

Siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce hatch a scheme to capture Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. When the plan goes awry, the kids join forces with a somewhat jolly Saint Nick and his loyal elves to save the holiday before it’s too late.

Teenager Kate Pierce is reunited with Santa Claus when a troublemaker threatens to cancel Christmas — forever.

This Christmas

At holiday time, family matriarch Ma’Dere Whitfield (Loretta Devine) assembles her large brood for their first reunion in four years. However, family ties show signs of strain when various secrets come to light, especially concerning Marine Claude’s (Columbus Short) true military status, Quentin’s (Idris Elba) debts and teenage Baby’s (Chris Brown) secret plans to become a singer.

The Grinch

The Grinch and his loyal dog, Max, live a solitary existence inside a cave on Mount Crumpet. His main source of aggravation comes during Christmastime when his neighbours in Whoville celebrate the holidays with a bang. When the Whos decide to make Christmas bigger and brighter, the disgruntled Grinch realises there is one way to gain peace and quiet. With help from Max, the green grump hatches a scheme to pose as Santa Claus, steal Christmas and silence the Whos’ holiday cheer once and for all.

Merry Liddle Christmas

A successful entrepreneur’s messy family descends on her new dream home for the holidays.

Best Man Holiday

Nearly 15 years after they were last together as a group, college friends Lance (Morris Chestnut), Harper (Taye Diggs), Candace (Regina Hall), Quentin (Terrence Howard), Robyn (Sanaa Lathan), Jordan (Nia Long), Murch (Harold Perrineau), and Mia (Monica Calhoun) finally reunite over the Christmas holidays. Though much has changed in their lives, the friends discover just how easy it is for long-forgotten rivalries and passionate romances to be reignited.

Almost Christmas

Walter Meyer (Danny Glover) is a retired mechanic who lost the love of his life one year earlier. Now that the holiday season is here, he invites daughters Rachel (Gabrielle Union) and Cheryl (Kimberly Elise) and sons Christian (Romany Malco) and Evan (Jessie T. Usher) to his house for a traditional celebration. Poor Walter soon realizes that if his bickering children and the rest of the family can spend five days together under the same roof, it will truly be a Christmas miracle.

A Madea Christmas

Madea (Tyler Perry) accompanies her niece, Eileen (Anna Maria Horsford), to the small town of Buck Tussel to pay a surprise visit to Eileen’s daughter, Lacey (Tika Sumpter), who has refused to come home for Christmas. The real reason Lacey is avoiding her judgmental mother is that she has secretly married Connor (Chad Michael Murray), a white classmate from college. When Eileen and Madea arrive at Lacey’s farm, she tells them that Connor is an employee, but her lie soon spins out of control.

Home Alone 2

After snarky youth Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) loses track of his father at the airport, he mistakenly gets on a plane headed for New York City — while the rest of the McCallisters fly to Florida. Now alone in the Big Apple, Kevin cons his way into a room at the Plaza Hotel and begins his usual antics. When Kevin discovers that the Sticky Bandits (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) are on the loose, he struggles to stop them from robbing an elderly man’s toy store just before Christmas.

Krampus

The Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure in Central and Eastern Alpine folklore who, during the Christmas season, scares children who have misbehaved.
